'Orange is the New Black' Season 4 Update, Release Date: 'Mad Men' Director, Matthew Weiner To Direct Upcoming Episode

Kenji Kohan, the director of "Orange is the New Black," asked Matthew Weiner to direct one of the episodes of the series' upcoming season 4.

It appears that Kohan and Weiner have been good friends for a long time now. It is common for friends in the industry to help each other out. It's a kind gesture for Kohan to offer Weiner a gig, especially after his masterpiece's series finale.

Weiner, 50, created, produced, written and directed the hit series, "Mad Men." He is known to be a control freak when it comes to production. It's the first time that Weiner would be directing something that he did not write.

Laura Prepon told The Hollywood Reporter, that production is currently on-going and that she loves working with Weiner.

"We filmed a huge day on Sunday, and a lot of directors might have been overwhelmed by that, but he wasn't and he knew exactly what he wanted to do. With a huge cast like ours, when you have a director who knows exactly what they want, it makes everything go a lot smoother. I love Matt - he's awesome" she said.

When asked further about the topic, Prepon said that she can't elaborate further because she might "get in a lot of trouble." She instead added that the fans are going to "love" the episode.

A source of THR said that Weiner is "loving it" when asked about the directing gig.

Vine Report said that Netflix has not yet announced the official release date of season 4, but many believe that it will most likely be next summer.
