'Orange is the New Black’ Season 4 Plot News: Will Red and Healy Officially Be Together?
While Netflix has yet to make an official announcement regarding the premiere of 'Orange is the New Black' Season 4, the rumor mill is abuzz with reports that fans can expect Red (Kate Mulgrew) and Healy (Michael Harney) to be together officially in the upcoming season of the comedy drama television series.
According to Christian Today, in 'Orange is the New Black' Season 3, fans saw the relationship between Red and the inmate counselor at Litchfield Penitentiary blossom. While Red had previously told Healy directly that it was impossible, as their "ships passed too late in the night for one of them to change course now."
In a recent post published in Entertainment Weekly, Mulgrew said that it seems as if there is "an unspoken understanding" between the two characters.
Mulgrew wrote, "They are far from enemies but neither are they bosom buddies, although she has animatedly and openly defended his virtues, to the chagrin of his petulant and self-consumed mail order bride. But then our throats tighten as we watch her snuggling up to Healy over a tea tray and we blink in a kind-of disbelief as we begin to form the (by now) uncomfortably clear impression that she is flirting with Healy, and that she is using all of her albeit rusty wiles to seduce him."
In the meantime, there are reports in some media outlets that Netflix was casting for inmates in New York City, even as production of the new season was under way. In 'Orange is the New Black' Season 3 finale, fans saw more inmates arriving at Litchfield prison. According to a report in IB Times, the new casting call was for these "new arrivals."
As far as John Bennett, the corrections officer at the penitentiary who was not seen much in the previous season, is concerned, Matt McGorry clarified the issue regarding whether or not he would be reprising his role in the upcoming season of the series.
In 'Orange is the New Black' Season 3, Bennett was engaged to inmate Daya (Dasha Polanco) and he vanished after getting her pregnant. As a result, their daughter was sent to child services.
In an interview with Yahoo News, the McGorry said he was keeping his fingers crossed for a return, but acknowledged that he would not be surprised if he did not. "The thing that I can say about Season 4 is that it's the writers' decision about whether or not Bennett is back. I have my fingers crossed that he comes through and is the man that we all hoped he was," McGorry said.
While Netflix has yet to announce the official release date of 'Orange is the New Black' Season 4, all indications are that the show return around the same time of year in 2016 as Season 3 did this past year.
