‘Orange is the New Black’ Season 4 News: Series Renewed for Another Installment, Sneak Peek of Season 3 [VIDEO]
Fans of the crime comedy television drama 'Orange is the New Black' will be delighted to learn that the ladies of Litchfield have just been ordered another prison term! In fact, actress Uzo Aduba confirmed on Wednesday that 'Orange is the New Black' has been renewed for a fourth season on Netflix.
Quoting Aduba, IB Times reports that 'Orange is the New Black' Season 4 will premiere in 2016 and the thrilling news comes only two months prior to the stream release of Season 3 on Friday, June 12.
During a segment of 'Good Morning America,' Aduba, who portrays the character of fan-favorite Crazy Eyes told George Stephanopoulos, "Season 4 is now the new news," adding that filming for the upcoming season of the show will commence in June.
In addition to revealing the renewal of 'Orange is the new Black' for another season, the ABC morning show also released a 45-second video clip from the upcoming season of the show on the occasion.
In the video clip of Jenji Kohan-created series, the jailbirds are seen talking about the fate of Vee (Lorraine Toussaint). Fans of the show will recall that Vee was met with an accident when she was struck by a van driven by Miss Rosa [Barbara Rosenblat] in the Season 2 'Orange is the New Black' finale after the two inmates escaped from Litchfield Penitentiary. Poussey (Samira Wiley) believes that Vee is dead, but Crazy Eyes is of the view that her (fake) friend, mentor and mother-figure is still alive.
In fact, the inmates are seen shouting to one of the guards saying, "No, you're a liar! She's fine. Vee is fine. She's coming back for me." Such gusto is of concern to the guard, who warns Taystee (Danielle Brooks), "Take care of your girl." This is a warning to her that if she does not take control of her friend, Crazy Eyes would be sent to the SHU.
It has also been announced that the critically acclaimed and award-winning series will return this summer with some new faces, including actors Ruby Rose, Mary Steenburgen, Blair Brown and Mike Birbiglia. In addition, some missing faces will also feature in the upcoming season. However, Jason Biggs and Pablo Schreiber will be absent from the third installment.
