'Orange is The New Black' Season 3 Premiere, Cast News: Netflix Confirms Series Return in Summer 2015
After a tweet from one of the show's stars, Netflix confirmed that its award winning series, "Orange is the New Black," will return for a third season this summer.
For those that may not know, Uza Aduba plays Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren on the show. On her Twitter feed Wednesday night, she simply stated "June 12!" in a post. Fans of the show bombarded the feed and other various fan sites, stating that the show would return on the date Aduba had announced. A few hours after Adbuba's post, Netflix confirmed the date.
A lot about Season 3 has already been released in past weeks. Show insiders spoiled that Larry Bloom, played by Jason Biggs, would not be returning for the third season. In response, fans speculate that this will give Piper and Alex another shot to renew their relationship.
Beyond that, when OITNB does a flashback, it means a character will die. Carrie "Big Boo" Black, who is played by Lea DeLaria, is rumored to die after a Season 3 leak that had a flashback for Carrie. Whether the character will actually die has yet to be confirmed by the show's cast or crew. Piper Chapman, played by Taylor Schilling, will also reportedly have flashbacks. However, fans deny that the show would kill off its main character.
The show is looking promising as new characters have also been announced. Academy Award winner Mary Steenburgen will join the cast as the mother of Mendez "Pornstache," who is played by Pablo Schreiber. Australian actress Ruby Rose also joins the cast as a new inmate and could possibly play a love interest for either Piper or Alex. Last but not least, Mike Birbiglia is also joining the cast, but his role is unknown.
44 new episodes of "Orange is the New Black" will appear on Netflix on June 12.
