'Orange is The New Black' Season 3 Release Date, Cast News: 'American Pie' Star Jason Biggs Won't Return as Larry Bloom
Character Larry Bloom, who is played by Jason Biggs, will not be returning for Season 3 of Netflix's hit series Orange is the New Black.
In an interview with The Daily Mail Biggs said, "They're not focusing on Larry at the moment. Larry will not be in season three. But there's always a possibility he can come back."
Netflix has not announced an official release date for Season 3, although most reports claim the new season will be launched on Netflix sometime later this summer.
For those who are unfamiliar with the show and its characters, Larry Bloom begins the show as a freelance writer who is shocked when his girlfriend Piper, played by Taylor Schilling, tells him about her life as a lesbian cash smuggler for a drug cartel. Despite her sketchy background, Bloom proposes to her before she is sent to an all-women's prison. Bloom uses this experience for his benefit as he writes about having a fiancé in prison. However, their support for each other turns sour as Bloom is seen with Piper's friend Polly in Season 2 and the engagement, as well as their relationship, ends.
Since its debut on Netflix in 2013, Orange is the New Black has received both critical and commercial success. Last year it won three Emmys in 2014 for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series and Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Comedy Series. It is also nominated for a Golden Globe this year for Taylor Schilling in the category Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series-Drama.
Currently, Biggs, also known for his role in American Pie, has been busy getting ready for his Broadway role in "The Heidi Chronicles with Elisabeth Moss and Bryce Pinkham. The show opens Monday, February 23.
