'Orange Is the New Black' Season 3 Release Date News: Taylor Schilling Nominated For Golden Globe Award

Fans of 'Orange Is the New Black' will be thrilled to know that their favorite TV show has been nominated for a number of Golden Globe Awards, including one for the best comedy series and another in the best actress category for Taylor Schilling, who portrays the main character, Piper Chapman.

'Orange Is the New Black,' a comedy-drama series that was first aired on Netflix on July 11, 2013, focuses on several hot button issues including gender equality, class, as well as drug policy.

According to a report in Latin Post, while the series itself has become a part of present day Americana, Taylor Schilling is thrilled over the nomination and says that she feels strongly about the woman she portrays in the show.

In a recent interview with Boston Common Magazine, the actress talked about her character. The 30-year-old actress said, "She makes a lot of sense to me. I always think there's that negotiation between what you think you need to be for the outside world and what your own honest experience is."

Winner of the 2013 Satellite Award for Best Actress in a Television series, at one stage in her life, Schilling supported herself by working as a nanny for a Manhattan family.

Referring to her past, the actress said, "I certainly think I'm on that quest myself; I relate to that. She has to figure out how to play by her own rules. That's an interesting journey people go on whether or not they're in prison. That's kind of what life is about."

The storyline of 'Orange Is the New Black' was originally based on a memoir by Piper Kerman, who narrated her experience of serving 13 months in a minimum-security Connecticut federal prison between 2004 and 2005.

Orange is the New Black Season 3 will be available to stream on Netflix sometime in June of 2015.
