'Orange Is The New Black' News: Natasha Lyonne's Speaks On What Happened To Nicky
The third season 'Orange is the New Black' left a lot of characters on a very high note, however there were some that didn't particularly receive one.
This would pertain to Natasha Lyonne's character Nicky, as she was sent to maximum security very early on in the series due to being framed for a drug charge. The scene where she was shipped off was very emotional and left fans heartbroken, as the character didn't return for the remainder of the season.
Lyonne recently spoke at the Television Critics Associations summer press tour on Tuesday and addressed the status of Nicky.
"I was excited to read it," she said. "I would actually argue that there were huge stakes for Nicky Nichols this season much more than any previous season. It makes sense that a self destructive person would end up where she did."
While she couldn't confirm that her character would be returning in the next season, she did speak on how the experience would impact Nicky with EW after the panel.
"It could really go both ways," she explained. "People respond all kinds of ways to intense [situations] beyond rules. That kind of discipline sometimes brings out the best in people and sometimes brings out that much more anger and rebellion. Certainly, at a certain point, I think Nicky would have to come to terms with her childhood and do some reconciling with her past if she's going to make peace with being an adult."
'Orange is the New Black' plans to return for a fourth season in summer 2016.
