OnePlus One New Availability News: Chinese Tech Titan Makes Handset Available for Open Sale [VIDEO]
To mark its first anniversary on April 23, Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus announced on Monday, April 20, that it will make its 2014 flagship smartphone OnePlus One available through open sale forever. This means that customers will no longer require an invite to purchase the popular handset.
IB Times quotes OnePlus Forum moderator Brandon saying, "Starting today (20 April), the One will be available without an invite. Forever. That's right. In our first big celebration of the One's successful year, we are opening up sales globally for everyone, every day of the week."
Brandon went on to add, "We have always wanted to put great products into the hands of more people. And, we now feel confident that we have matured enough to handle the increased complexity that comes along with opening up sales completely."
Thus far, people wanting to buy the handset had to go through a burdensome route of winning contests or promotional events by means of signing up on Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites of the company. Only a few fortunate consumers would avail an invite or pass and be entitled to book the OnePlus One handset.
Now, consumers are able to directly place order for the phone and get the handset delivered at their door-step.
Apart from the open-sale of device, OnePlus has also confirmed that buyers will get 75% discount on OnePlus Flip Covers and Premium Screen Protectors. In addition, customers can also avail Bamboo StyleSwap covers without an invite till the supplies last.
However, all this comes with a condition. This offer is applicable only for 24 hours and is available to consumers in specific regions such as the USA, Canada, European Union, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
The OnePlus One comes with a 5.5-inch full HD (1,920 x 1,080 p) display and is shipped with CyanogenMod v11S based Android KitKat v4.4 OS. It is powered by 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 series quad-core CPU, equipped with Adreno 330 graphics engine, has 3GB RAM, and 16GB/64GB inbuilt memory. The handset is packed with a high-capacity 3,100mAh battery.
