The Android Nougat update is coming to the OnePlus 3 smart phones, although the exact date is not revealed.

A news report from GSM Arena pointed to the Ask Me Anything session on Reddit where executives of OnePlus 3 revealed that their tech division is "actively working" on the Android Nougat update for the phone.

In the same session, the executives also revealed that the Android Marshmallow update for the OnePlus X will start next week.

According to Tech Radar, the customer base of OnePlus 3 is quite low compared to the bigger phone manufacturers so the news is a pleasant surprise considering that it might be among the first companies to roll out the OnePlus 3 Android Nougat update.

For now, only the Nexus phones is getting the Android Nougat. Next to follow are the Google Pixel and Goole Pixel XL when they come out next month.

"We cannot share a timeline right now, but we are already actively working on it," the Reddit reply came on the question from one user who asked about when Android Nougat is coming to OnePlus 3.

The lack of timeline, however, means that it might not be soon. OnePlus3 developers could be "actively working" on the Android Nougat update but there's no way of knowing how much resources the company is allocating to achieve that goal.
