One Direction News: Liam Payne Talks Zayn Malik's Exit from the Band

Since leaving One Direction during the band's world tour in March, with the intention of becoming a "normal 22 year old," Zayn Malik has been spending a lot of time with the people who are close to him.

Malik cited stress as one of the biggest reasons for his exit from the group.

In an interview on the United Kingdom's Capital Breakfast Show on Wednesday, former bandmate of Malik, Liam Payne, discussed Malik's departure.

"It's just like any other job, really -- sometimes you have to move on because you're not enjoying what you're doing as much," said Payne on the show. "He wanted to go and spend some time with his family and missus."

The missus whom Payne is referring to is Perrie Edwards, member of the British girl band, Little Mix.

Malik and Edwards became engaged in 2013, although they do have any plans to get married any time soon, it seems.

Malik has been silent in a way on social media, but Edwards has been posting selfies of herself and Malik on Intsagram now that his schedule is not so hectic.

The band, One Direction is set to release its fifth album in five years this fall.

Of course, Payne does admit that he misses his bandmate at time, but he understands that Malik had to focus on his priorities.

He went on to say of himself and the band, "We're just going to carry on doing what we're doing. We wish Zayn all the best with whatever he goes into."
