One Direction News: 1D Band Members Open Up About Zayn Malik's Exit in First Public Interview
Zayn Malik's exit from One Direction a couple of months ago has caused quite a stir amongst fans and even the bandmates. His ex band mates have not said much on the matter, but in an appearance on The Late Show with James Corden on May 14, the members of the band finally said their peace.
Harry Styles, 21, Louis Tomlinson, 23, Niall Horan, 21, and Liam Payne, 21, say that while they still have a lot of love for Zayn, they were shocked and upset about his decision to leave the band.
During the interview, Liam said, "At first we were a little bit angry. We were surprised, but I think we all knew the general vibe that Zayn was feeling. There were certain parts of this job that Zayn loved and certain parts of the job that he didn't. If you don't like your job, you've got to follow your heart sometimes and go where you need to go. There's no argument with that."
It is not hard to understand how shocked the guys must have felt when Zayn made his decision and subsequent announcement in March of this year.
Liam's statement does show that there was a measure of disappointment in him on the part of the band, but at the same time they support his wishes and want him to be happy.
They wished him the best of luck in his future endeavors.
The group is set to make their first awards show appearance without Zayn this month. They will be presenting an award at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards on May 17th.
