After including the 'Frozen' characters and storyline in 'Once Upon a Time' Season 4, series creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis now plan to incorporate the "Brave" character Merida in the upcoming season of the fairy tale drama series on ABC. The show creators also shared details as to how the character of Merida will be accommodated in the new storyline on 'Once Upon a Time.'

IB Times reports that the series creators as well as executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis are extremely thrilled to include the red-haired character Merida from 'Brave,' the 2012 computer-animated fantasy-comedy film. Talking to Entertainment Weekly, Horowitz revealed that he and Kitsis loved the character of Merida ever since the film was released.

Horowitz told the media outlet, "This is the first Pixar character on the show," while teasing that Merida's appearance in 'Once Upon a Time' Season 5 will be some time following the events that occurred in the 'Brave' film.

The show creator further added that the upcoming season will also reveal how Merida, portrayed by Amy Manson, crosses paths with the 'Once Upon a Time' characters and mythology. In the meantime, Kitsis teased that it will be a lot of fun watching Merida because the new character is described as a spitfire, as she was in the 'Brave' film.

Meanwhile, Horowitz shared that Merida will be part of Emma Swan's journey as the new Dark One prior to meeting the remaining characters of the 'Once Upon a Time' in Storybrooke.

Horowitz also told Entertainment Weekly, "All that is tied with how we explore the world of Camelot this year." He is hopeful that the viewers will see the way in which the characters connect in a funny way like Merlin's important role in getting what Emma Swan, portrayed by Jennifer Morrison, requires.

He teased, "You'll get that pretty much from the start. In the season premiere, there's a lot that happens, including Merida and giving you a taste of what we plan to do with Camelot."

Meanwhile, Hypable reports that 'Once Upon a Time' has teased Merida's debut scene in Season 5 at the 2015 Comic-Con. The brief sneak peek video that was released on the occasion shows Amy Manson as the red-haired 'Brave' character with remarkable archery expertise.

'Once Upon a Time' Season 5 will premiere on Sunday night, Sept. 27, at 8/7c on ABC.
