'Once Upon a Time' Season 5 Spoilers: Merida Visits Storybrooke, Emma Swan Gets Back Her Darker Side [VIDEO]

When 'Once Upon a Time' returns to ABC for its fifth season this fall, the fairy tale television drama series will bring Merida, the strong-willed Scottish princess of Disney, to Storybrooke along with it.

Christian Today reports that Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis, the executive producers of the ABC series, have recently announced that the archery expert heroine, who appeared in the 2012 animated film 'Brave,' will be seen in 'Once Upon a Time' Season 5. This was disclosed at the recently concluded 2015 San Diego Comic-Con, where the executive producers released a teaser video to substantiate their claim.

The newly released video clip shows the signature archery skills of Merida and the character's curly red hair are displayed as she hits the target's bullseye seamlessly. After the character removes her hood, viewers come to know that Scottish actress Amy Manson would be playing the role.

Recently, Amy Manson discussed about her new role in her Twitter account. She said that she has been keeping it a secret for some time. In addition, Manson posted a photo of herself while practicing her archery skills, accompanied with a caption, which happens to be Merida's famous line: "Our fate lives within us. You only have to be brave enough to see it."

Apart from Merida's appearance in the upcoming season of 'Once Upon a Time,' fans can also expect to see 'The Savior' Emma Swan get consumed completely by the darkness. Meanwhile, another video clip released at the Comic-Con featured the new look of actress Jennifer Morrison as the new "Dark One" of Storybrooke.

The trailer show Emma donning a complete black outfit matched by a sleek, pulled back hairstyle and gleaming face. She is seen locked up in the same Enchanted Forest prison where Robert Carlyle's Rumplestiltskin was detained earlier. Fans can also see a servant, who is shocked to see a beautiful woman instead of a beast, delivering her meal outside her cell. When the servant tells Emma that people are calling her a monster, Emma coldly replies that she is a wicked creature "only on the inside," before stretching out to dig up his heart and crushing it without repentance.

Morrison, who portrays Emma Swan in the series, told the panel attendees that she is excited to see Emma get back her darker side.

Referring to co-stars Lana Parrilla and Carlyle, Morrison said, "I'm really excited. As an actor to start season five of a show doing something brand new is exciting... now I get to try something totally new and different and get to have the fun that these guys are having." Lana Parrilla and Carlyle, who were also in attendance during the press panel, portray the roles of Storybrooke's former evil forces Regina "The Evil Queen" Mills and Rumplestiltskin.

'Once Upon a Time' Season 5 is slated to premiere on Sept. 27 on ABC.
