'Once Upon a Time' Season 5 Spoilers, Cast News: Dark One to Meet Redhead Princess in Enchanted Forest [VIDEO]
When 'Once Upon a Time' returns for its fifth season next month, fans will see the first ever Pixar character joining the fairy tale drama television series on ABC.
According to Christian Today, 'Once Upon a Time' show creators will be introducing Merida, the redhead, defiant protagonist from 'Brave,' in the premiere episode of the upcoming season. Scottish actress Amy Manson will portray the princess, who is said to play a crucial role in the life of Emma (Jennifer Morrison).
Executive producer Adam Horowitz told Entertainment Weekly that Merida's story in "Once" would be a sort of continuation of the events that happened in the movie.
Hoorowitz told the publication, "We're going to give you a little taste of where she's been since then, what's happened to her since the end of that movie, and then we're going to see that that somehow crosses with our people and with our 'Once Upon a Time' mythology."
Meanwhile, Bustle reports that Merida will first meet the new Dark One Emma in the series. According to reports, the redheaded princess will encounter Emma in the Enchanted Forrest, much ahead of meeting the other Storybrooke crew. According to Horowitz, this meeting would be a part of Emma's journey in tackling her darkness.
It is expected that Merida will help the remaining Storybrooke characters like the Evil Queen (Lana Parrilla), Captain Hook (Colin O'Donoghue), Prince Charming (Josh Dallas) and Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) in their quest to find Merlin (Elliot Knight).
In the meantime, many fans will be surprised to learn that none other than Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle) will guide Emma in her transformation as the Dark One. The first-look photograph of 'Once Upon a Time' Season 5 shows the evil character approaching Emma.
Executive producers Horowitz and Edward Kitsis recently teased, "If you're going to be the Dark One, you gotta learn from the best."
At the recent San Diego Comic-Con, Carlyle disclosed that his character would still be keen on making "devilish" deals.
'Once Upon a Time' Season 5 premieres on Sunday, Sept. 27, at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
