Japan-based Olympus Corporation has recently launched a latest smartphone camera dubbed as the "Air A01" in the North American market. Earlier, the Air A01 was released in the Japanese market in February 2015.

Citing a report in Digital Trends, Christian Post states that the Olympus Air A01 is expected to come with a dedicated smartphone app in addition to support for "Amazon Cloud Drive' for the U.S. and Canada markets.

Basically, the Olympus Air A01 smartphone camera is a lens device that the user can attach to or paired with smartphones and tablets running on both the iOS as well as Android mobile operating systems. This device supports Android's 4.0 version or above and iOS' 7.0 version or above.

A report in Softpedia says that the new camera device can convert any mobile phone into a professional digital single-lens reflex camera (DSLR).

The Amazon Cloud Drive enables users to choose to either save their images online on the Web or on their devices. Moreover, users are also able to control as well as adjust the camera settings on their handsets. Other features of the Olympus Air A01 smartphone camera include an art filter, color creator, photo story and image viewing capabilities.

As far as the specifications of the new camera device is concerned, the Air A01 features a 16 mega pixel micro four thirds sensor, silent electronic shutter, full HD video capability and 10 frames per second (fps) successive shooting feature.

According to Olympus, the device also comes with a built-in Wi-Fi and supports Bluetooth connectivity. Users can charge the lens via a USB connection.

A report in Digital Trends says that Olympus will start shipping the new device this month and it will be costing about $300. Prospective owners of the new camera device will also have the choice of purchasing the device along with a 14 to 42 mm EZ lens for $500.

In a recent statement, Olympus America announced that the Air A01 would be available in black and white colors in the U.S. and Canada. The Air A01 will be available in Canada in August and it will cost anything between $400 and $600.
