Oculus Touch Controller Release Date Delayed, Rift Launch Unaffected
While Oculus Rift stays on a smooth path to its launch in the first quarter of 2016, the release of Touch controllers are postponed.
The Oculus Touch controllers would be delayed until the second half of 2016, according to the Oculus blog. As per the blog, it is indicated that the Oculus Rift consumer edition gaming headset would be the company's priority, shipping it on time in the first quarter of 2016 and preorders starting.
The prime reason behind the said delay was not mentioned, according to iDigital Times; but then, the Oculus crew revealed its plans of boosting the functionality of the Oculus Touch with the available time remaining.
One of the features that will be improved in the Touch controllers is the hand pose recognition, which will be integrated with minor changes in its looks, making the Oculus Touch have a natural feel when held by its user.
In the same blog, the Oculus team wrote that there would be a huge amount of ground-breaking new content launching, in addition to Touch. Along with a positive review of users on Touch, the team mentioned that this particular breakthrough of the company shall open the opportunity towards a new product development involving the VR input.
Oculus' revelation on its Touch product came along with the upgrade on the Oculus Rift; however, it is guaranteed by the team that the reason behind the delay of the Oculus Touch controllers would not affect the Oculus Rift launch.
Aside from the Rift and Touch, the Oculus team also mentioned some pre-release insights on the Oculus Connect 2 in September 2015, adding that they could not wait to show fans the company's forthcoming products.
