Oculus Rift News, Pre-Orders, Price, Specs: Rifts shipping delayed; Product to collect information from users

There has been a delay on the shipment of the much awaited gaming tool, the Oculus Rift. The virtual head-piece was supposed to be sent out all made an order on March 28, however, because of some supply chain problems, the product shipping will be delayed.

Oculus will now be offering free shipping (even on places outside the country) for those who pre-ordered the Rifts to compensate on the delay.

Founder Palmer Luckey posted on Reddit (via IT Pro UK) and said: "I am not going to wax poetic about this, since I have done so in the past, but bottom-line: I won't give in-depth updates on any situation without knowing it is solid, true, and finalized. Until I can do so, the best I can do is remind people that I will get them information as quickly as I can."

In other news, about a couple of days ago, Oculus also confirmed that they will collect information from the users of the device such as the user's physical movements and dimension.

According to Independent UK, the terms read as follows:

"We use the information we collect to send you promotional messages and content and otherwise market to you on and off our Services... We also use this information to measure how users respond to our marketing efforts."

Since Facebook owns Oculus, it is likely that the information which will be collected will be used by Facebook and WhatsApp as well. The information won't be used against anyone but will just be used for marketing purposes.
