Noted Vocalist And Gospel Artist Robert E. Person Returns With First-Ever Jazz EP 'Classic Covers' Out June 1

Gospel artist and vocalist Robert E. Person is back with his first-ever Jazz album, Classic Covers, releasing everywhere on June 1 and available for pre-order now here. Following a lengthy career releasing an impressive catalog of indie Gospel albums, Person artistically selected to record a live studio album of Jazz classics and favorites.

Classic Covers is a collection of timeless classic songs, including "My Favorite Things" from The Sound of Music, Stevie Wonder's "Love's In Need of Love Today," and the passionate love ballad from hit Broadway musical Civil War, "Sarah." Kicking off Person's new EP is an exhilarating arrangement of The Stylistics' "People Make The World Go Round."

Every song on the album is backed by a dynamic string quartet and jazz ensemble and are arranged by Person's musical director Allyn Johnson, who is a highly decorated virtuoso pianist, music educator and artistic creative from Washington, D.C.

Recorded live in studio, Classic Covers with its ingenious production and arrangements is a bold release for Person. In addition, the EP is iconic because it includes a rare collaboration with Gospel track "I Give You Praise," written by legendary songwriter and pianist Richard Smallwood, who is behind such songs as "Total Praise," and "Center of My Joy." The collaboration with this fellow Washingtonian incorporates Smallwood performing piano on the song he originally wrote almost 40 years ago.
