Nokia Smartphone Release News: Android Handsets Headed for India, China & Europe Launches
Having released its first Android-run tablet N1, Finnish smartphone manufacturer Nokia is now all set to regain its lost ground in the smartphone-tablet market. If a recent report is to be believed, the company will not only start selling smartphones again, but will launch a global marketing campaign targeting India, China and Europe.
According to IB Times, Nokia, which was a leading smartphone manufacturer globally, lost its market share following the advent of Android-powered devices, as consumers preferred the wide range of apps, openness and user experience of Android to Nokia's Symbian. Subsequently, the Finnish firm sold the rights of its popular Lumia brand to Microsoft in 2013.
The deal with Microsoft came with a embargo that prevented Nokia from marketing its own branded smartphones till 2016. As half of 2015 is already over, and 2016 is just six months away, Nokia is reported to be gearing up for another shot at the smartphone-table market with Android-powered devices.
According to the report, Softpedia (via NPU) claimed that Nokia is prepared to resume its smartphone production and is said to be in talks with Chinese smartphone-tablet maker Foxconn, which makes devices for companies Apple, Xiaomi and InFocus.
The report also claims that Nokia is currently targeting India, China and Europe for its future devices. The company plans to unleash a global marketing campaign as well as official product sites by 2016 end.
Recently, the rumor mill is abuzz with reports that that Nokia will debut in the market with a smartphone named C1, which purportedly features a 5-inch display and is powered by an Intel-made (in all probability Atom series) chipset. The device is expected to be supported by 2GB Ram and 32GB storage.
The rumors suggest that the C1 will feature an 8 megapixel rear camera alongside a 5 megapixel front-facing snapper. It will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop. According to IB Times, this seems to make the rumors unbelievable as Google will launch another Android version - Android M, in 2016 and the Lollipop will not be around then.
