Nintendo Theme Park News: Game & Platform Developer Confirms Partnership with Universal Studios

Many Nintendo fans have probably been wishing for a Nintendo theme park, since the high profile game developer has all of the elements that would make it prime for a theme park establishment.

However, while a Nintendo theme park is but a dream, Nintendo and Universal Studios are coming together as partners.

The two businesses plan to bring experiences based on Nintendo's games, world and characters to the Universal Studios theme parks.

This goes hand in hand with Nintendo's recent efforts to fit into a Disney like merchandising and licensing model.

This seems to be working out in favor of the company because it has just achieved its first yearly profit since 2011.

This opens the possibilities for the world that every Nintendo fan has always dreamed of. It might include a real life Mario Karts game.

There may be a Star Fox roller coaster. There may be a place for children to catch holographic Pokemon. Perhaps the park will even feature a merry go round with Tingles instead of horses.

The company has said that specific details in terms of their plans for the collaboration will be revealed later.

Nintendo hopes to make more money by drawing attention to its more popular franchises, such as Mario and Legend of Zelda.

Universal Studios has theme parks in California, Florida, Osaka and Singapore.

The company has been in the red for the past three years, so its investors were pleased to find that Nintendo made a total operating income of about 207 million dollars on sales of about 4.5 billion dollars.

While this margin is slim, it shows that the rebranding may be working after all.
