Nintendo Switch Release News, Sales Update: Number One Video Game Console In United States
Japanese video game console Nintendo Switch has sold more than 280,000 units in the United States, and is ranked No. 1 in gaming console sales over the last two months.
According to market researcher NPD Group, 280,000 units Nintendo Switch units were sold in April in the US, ranking first after 906,000 units in March. Nintendo Switch game "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" was released on April 28, 2017, and has sold more than 550,000 copies as well as hardware and software.
"The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild," which was released along with the Nintendo Switch, is also estimated to have achieved massive sales volumes, but accurate data has not yet been shared by Nintendo.
Nintendo is also planning to release an entry in its legendary Legend of Zelda series for smartphones, according to The Wall Street Journal. According to the newspaper, "The Legend of Zelda" which will be released as a smartphone version will be released after the "Animal Crossing" mobile version. The "Animal Crossing" mobile version will be released in the second half of 2017, with the mobile version of "The Legend of Zelda" expected to be released in 2018.
"The Legend of Zelda" is one of Nintendo's long-running action adventure game series. "The Legend of Zelda" on the Nintendo Switch and its Wii U counterpart were launched last March and have continued to increase in sales, managing to reach third place in software sales in April, 2017.
