The trailer for the Nintendo Switch showed the dock that will connect the console to the TV. Now, the latest news revealed that the accessory plays a bigger role than initially thought.

According to the news report from LetsPlayVideoGames, the dock will actually boost the performance of the console. Apparently, when the handheld is linked to the dock through a USB-C slot, the Nintendo Switch will automatically bump the clock speeds in order to match the higher resolutions of the TV.

Not only that, connecting the gadget to the dock will also activate the fan, which will address the issue of heat because of the higher clock speed.

The article also shared the good news about the Nintendo Switch dock being designed to be cheap. The reason given is that Nintendo will sell the dock as a standalone later on for people who may want to put more docks for their different TV sets.

In related news, a listing of accessories for the Nintendo Switch has turned up in an Australian EB Games website but has since been taken down. For instance, a charging Type-C to Type-A cable measuring about 10 feet has been listed by the website.

There was also a case for the gadget which Digital Trends described as a hybrid of PS Vita and Nintendo 3DS cases. The case, which appears to be soft shell rather than clamshell, features compartments for games as well as screen protectors.
