Nintendo Summer Sale 2016 News & Update: ‘Super Mario,’ ‘Zelda’ Get 30 Percent Off, 3DS Family System Tops July Sales
The latest details on Nintendo's 2016 Summer Sales center on price discounts and top sales, which come from its 3DS console.
Nintendo fans and gamers are set to have up to 30 percent discount on selected game titles, according to Nintendo's official website. The discount covers the Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 2DS, and the Wii U system and the deals are set to take place from Aug. 18 9:00 a.m. PT to Sept. 1 at 8:59 a.m. PT.
Some of the titles in the summer sale include those from "Super Mario Bros." and "The Legend of Zelda" franchise. According to Nintendo, "Super Mario Bros." is now $3.49 from $4.99 while "Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash" is now $34.99 from $49.99. On the other hand, "The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds" sees a price drop from $39.99 to $27.99 while "The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass" is now being sold at $6.99 from $9.99.
In other news, Nintendo 3DS topped July's console sales, according to Business Wire. As per the publication, the release of the "Monster Hunter Game," the momentum from the Nintendo 2DS price decrease, and the positive public feedback for the "Pokemon GO" mobile app, which was recently released in other territories across the globe.
It is further revealed that the Nintendo 3DS managed to sell about 80 percent more consoles in July when compared to the same time window in 2015. It is also hailed as the overall best-selling video game system last month, with Capcom's "Monster Hunter Generations" as the best-selling game across the systems.
In line with the "Pokemon" games, the July sales for "Pokemon Omega Ruby" and "Pokemon Alpha Sapphire," which were launched in Nov. 2014, for the 3DS were more than 80 percent higher compared to last year. Meanwhile, "Pokemon X" and "Pokemon Y," released in Oct. 2013, got nearly 200 percent higher than in 2015.
For now, Nintendo is set to release the much-anticipated "Pokemon Sun" and "Pokemon Moon" for the 3DS on Nov. 18.
