According to some speculations, the company seems to be inclined to use Android as a platform.

A recent report in game fan site Kotaku quotes the Japanese newspaper Nikkei stating that Nintendo is planning to load the NX with an Android-based system with a view to "speed up getting all developers on board." This may possibly indicate that Google's Android is a popular system among the company's developers owing to its large clientele worldwide, comprehensible interface, as well as ease of use either in the form of a coding program for apps or in the form of a consumer-end app itself.

Using a universal system like Android would help developers save time on building games and apps, because already this operating system is widely adapted on smartphones, tablets, and even PCs.
