Nintendo NX News: Next-Gen Gaming Console Will Change 'Video Gaming Life' Claims Company Chief
While the Japanese multinational consumer electronics manufacturer, Nintendo for short, had announced last week that it is currently working on a new console code-named Nintendo NX, recently the company president Satoru Iwata offered more details regarding the upcoming device. He hinted that the company intends to change 'video gaming life' with the launch of the next-gen console.
IB Times reports that in an interview with Japanese business news outlet Nikkei, Iwata, however, avoided discussing too much about the console, but he asserted that the existing hardware is somewhat boring.
According to Iwata, "However, if you only expand upon existing hardware, it's dull." He added, "In some shape or form, we're always thinking about how we want to surprise players as well as our desire to change each person's video gaming life."
From Iwata's remarks, it is apparent Nintendo is still not prepared to give in. Earlier, there were speculations that the 126 year-old video game conglomerate may finally quit hardware and concentrate on software. Contrarily, Nintendo surprised the industry by announcing the NX on March 17.
At the same time, Iwata denied rumors that Nintendo's future would solely depend on the mobile industry, and asserted that the company is still in the "dedicated video game system market."
On March 17, Iwata announced, "Nintendo has decided to deploy its video game business on smart devices, but it is not because we have lost our passion or vision for the business of dedicated video game systems."
He went on to say, "As proof that Nintendo maintains strong enthusiasm for the dedicated game system business, let me confirm that Nintendo is currently developing a dedicated game platform with a brand-new concept under the development code name NX." According to Iwata, the company would reveal more information regarding the console in 2016.
