Nintendo News & Update: New Console NX Will Not Support VR?
The Nintendo NX is reported to be coming out in March of 2017, but there's no news yet on whether or not it will support VR when Xbox and PlayStation are already gearing towards virtual reality.
There's already a lot of rumors on the next console having to replace the Wii U, which has been a disappointment in terms of sales. However, there's no news confirmation from Nintendo if this speculation is true or not.
But when every console out there are already going to the direction of VR in gaming, game developer Shigeru Miyamoto may not think that the Nintendo NX is following that route.
"I would agree that adapting Mario to new platforms is a key to keeping him relevant," he told USA Today.
"But we want families to play together, and virtual reality (which requires players to be closed off from the real world) doesn't really fit well there. We also like people playing for a long time, and it's hard to do that in VR."
Meanwhile, NintendoLife said that Nintendo can make waves all by itself with the NX by not competing with Xbox and PlayStation.
It said that if the company manages to produce a console that offers "gaming experiences different from those available elsewhere," then it can create a niche market all its own apart from Xbox and PlayStation.
For now, however, there's not much news on the Nintendo NX. There are alleged leaks here and there, particularly on the revolutionary controller but without any confirmation, fans will just have to dismiss these reports as mere rumor.
