'Nine Lives' New Film Cast News: Kevin Spacey Set to Play Man Trapped in Cat's Body
Kevin Spacey prepares for his next film venture where he plays a human who gets trapped in a cat's body. According to The Wrap, Spacey will be teaming up with Director Barry Sonnenfeld for this new comedy entitled, "Nine Lives."
"Spacey will star as a workaholic businessman who suffers a terrible accident that leaves him trapped in the body of the family cat," writes The Wrap.
EuropaCorp will be producing the comedy, and it will be written by Daniel Antoniazzi and Ben Shiffrin.
"EuropaCorp is financing and producing the film, which will be shepherded by its U.S. film president Lisa Ellzey. "Nine Lives" will be one of EuropaCorp's first releases through Red, the distribution pipeline it shares with Relativity," writes The Wrap.
Sonnenfeld has described the project as a "funny, emotional, commercial comedy," despite the body-swapping comedy genre being run into the ground.
The director is known for his otherworldly type projects, such as the "Men In Black" franchise.
Spacey is best known for his Netflix series, "House of Cards", but he has done comedic projects such as "Horrible Bosses 1 & 2", but nothing quite as juvenile as this.
"Spacey has won Oscars for "American Beauty" and "The Usual Suspects," and he's coming off his first Golden Globe win for "House of Cards," which returns to Netflix for its third season next month. He also just won a SAG Award for "House of Cards," reports The Wrap.
Not much has been reported on the film other than it's title and logline. Many are still speculating on why the Oscar award winning actor would sign onto a project like this.
The actor does have a lot of worked lined up for himself. Aside from the third season of his Netflix show, he's working on an indie film called "Elvis & Nixon", in where he depicts the late president.
More word should surface on the project later.
