Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder Dating Rumors: Is It a Publicity Stunt to Promote Actor’s Latest Movie?

Rumor has it that Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder have reunited after separating last year for reasons known only to them.

However, not everyone is ready to believe that the couple has really resolved their differences and started dating again. Some speculate that this is simple a publicity stunt direct attention toward Somerhalder's most recent movie, The Anomaly. The film had received terrible reviews and failed to make any mark at the box office.

Celeb Dirty Laundry reports that Somerhalder does not possess the kind of star qualities that would help to guide attention toward his films and make them succeed at the box office. Moreover, the other stars in the film like Noel Clarke, Brian Cox, and Luke Hemsworth also do not possess that standing which could make the film a success.

However, many still attribute the resounding success of the CW supernatural drama series The Vampire Diaries to the passionate relationship between its lead actors Somerhalder and Dobrev.

Then again, though several tabloids have reported on the couple's reunion, these reports are still unsubstantiated.

In the meantime, Somerhalder does not seem to be affected by the criticism of The Anomaly, but says that he is quite proud of the film and also thinks highly of the relationships he shared within the movie.

In a recent interview with Digital Spy, Somerhalder said, "Noel is so prolific at what he does, and I was really excited to work with someone who's starring and directing in the movie, because that's something I want to do and I will do myself. Noel is extremely giving with his information, and he has so much passion and compassion for the art of film. He shares it so freely and I'm grateful for that."

Moreover, the actor suggested that he saw the real world paralleled in the script.

Talking about his role, Somerhalder told the website, "Imagine Pfizer or Roche, one of those big pharmaceutical companies, being owned by one family. My character's father Dr Langham, who is played by Brian Cox, understands that humanity is exceeding its resource pool at such an alarming rate that it can't continue on this path. It's what's happening in the world no."
