Popular celebrity couple Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder were married in California on Sunday night, as confirmed by various reports. Four months after getting engaged in January, the couple tied the knot in Santa Monica in a wedding ceremony that was set out in the open.

According to People Magazine, the couple asked the guests to donate to their animal rescue charity, instead of giving them gifts.

On the day of the wedding, Somerhalder tweeted, saying, "Most beautiful morning ever."

According to the Daily Mail, at one point during the official wedding portrait session, the groom "carried his bride down a muddy slope so that her dress didn't get dirty."

For those that many not have known, the couple had only been dating for about nine months now, before they officially made the decision to tie the knot.

On a side note, for Reed, this is her second wedding. She filed for a divorce from former partner Paul McDonald in May, last year. However, for Somerhalder, this happens to be his first and only marriage.

Beyond all that, there's also something else that many fans would probably like to know if they're following 'The Vampire Diaries' actor, and that he had once been dating his co-star Nina Dobrev. While this Hollywood relationship was very popular and received a lot of media attention, it didn't work out in the end.

However, as it stands, it seems that fans of Ian Somerhalder are happy that he finally found happiness and love in actress Nikki Reed.
