We've all heard of fast engagements, but this sure is fast! Only six months into their relationship, 'Vampire Diaries' actor Ian Somerhalder has popped the question to his girlfriend, 'Twilight' star Nikki Reed.

The celebrity couple started dating back in July, and moved in together only three weeks later. The couple has lived in harmony in Atlanta, Georgia, where they adopted two horses together and a kitten named Sohalia. They must have really wanted to start a family, as they also adopted dogs Nietzsche and Enzo.

Five months later, Somerhalder was leaving hints that he was ready for the next step in making "a great future" with his girlfriend.

In December, the actor was seen buying a "vintage diamond eternity band for Nikki," according to US magazine. At the time, the band seemed less like a token of appreciation, and more like a wedding band.

On January 8^th, he posted a photo with his future fiancée with the message, "How I spent my New Year's Day- in a #tbt way- wow. Week one of 2015.Thank you all for giving me so much strength-we're ready to kick major a** and make a great future starting now. Happy 1st week of the New Year- I hope you're on track with making your future the most sustainable and harmonious one possible..."

This will be Somerhalder's first marriage if all things go well. Nikki is Somerhalder's first relationship after dating 'Vampire Diaries' co-star Nina Dobrev for three years. Congratulations to the happy couple!
