Nike New Sneakers 2015: Sports Star Inspired Footwear Released for Black History Month

In celebration of the upcoming Black History Month, Nike has decided to release the launch dates for some of its most anticipated sneakers this year.

The shoes will be based off major sports icons that have made a deep impact within their sport, whether that be basketball, football, soccer, or even skateboarding.

According to Nike's website:

"NIKE, Inc. celebrates Black History Month with a collection of products across basketball, football, running, soccer and skateboarding that honors six athletes and coaches who have positively impacted sport with their courage and determination: Theotis Beasley, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Jerry Rice, Brianna Rollins, C. Vivian Stringer and John Thompson."

Beasley is a 23 year old professional skateboarder for Nike that turned pro in 2011. Boateng plays for Ghana's national soccer team. Rice is a retired football player that played for the NFL for 20 seasons as a wide receiver.

Rollins is a 23 year old track athlete with countless awards. She now holds the American record for the 100m hurdle event at 12.26.

Stringer is a woman's basketball coach with one of the most impressive records in the sport's history.

Thompson was the first African-American college coach to win a major collegiate championship when his team Georgetown University.

The whole collection features 28 new items including 12 shoes and 16 other various pieces apparel.

Among the anticipated sneakers, the LeBron 12 BHM will be priced at $220, The Kyrie 1 BHM at $130, and the Kobe 9 Elite BHM will be available at $250, all in various colors.

"A portion of proceeds from the sales will go to the Ever Higher Fund, which supports organizations that help underserved youth explore their potential in sports. As part of the program, high school students would get the chance to contribute their ideas with the Nike design team," writes Realty Today.
