Nicolas Cage New Movies 2015 News: 'Left Behind' Actor to Star in WWII Drama ‘USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage'
New reports are claiming that Nicolas Cage will star in the upcoming Hannibal Classics' World War II movie "USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage', according to Variety.
The shooting of the movie will start on June 10 in Mobile, Alabama, according to the magazine. The film is scheduled to be released on Memorial Day weekend in 2016.
The movie, which has been in development for almost five years now, will finally see the day of light. During these five years, the studio, reportedly has been in talks with war survivors, the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Coast Guard and the like to get all the real accounts for the making of the movie.
Cage will be seen in the role of Captain Charles Butler McVay, the man who was court-martialed after the ship was torpedoed, then exonerated more than 50 years later. The movie will be directed by Mario Van Peebles, who has worked on the script along with Cam Cannon and Rionda del Castro for the film.
Speaking about the plot of the movie, Peebles said, "This film is about the crewmen of the USS Indianapolis, their unsurpassed bravery, dedication to each other and distinguished service to our country. It's an honor to tell their story," according to Variety.
Reportedly, the producers have announced for plans to construct a 500,000 gallon water tank, though it's not yet confirmed whether the tank will simply be holding Cage's collection of wigs. By the looks of it, the movie seems like big-budget affair with a lot of expectations from the audience and the filmmakers alike.
Speaking about Cage's role in the movie, del Castro said, "This is an extremely demanding physical and emotional role and Nic has proven time and time again that he can take on such a challenge and excel. We are very excited to be working together again to bring to the screen a story about the power of the human spirit and its strength to survive against inconceivable odds," according to Variety.
