Nicki Minaj Expresses Faith in God: 'Anaconda' Singer Calls For Prayers of Wisdom via Twitter [VIDEO]
Despite her racy image, hip-hop artist Nicki Minaj recently went on Twitter and offered some inspirational advice to her fans, saying they should pray for wisdom instead of fame.
Though Minaj identifies herself as a Christian, some people question her sincerity due to the explicit lyrics and images shown in her music videos and performances.
"Ppl pray for riches. Remember to pray for wisdom," wrote Minaj on Twitter on October 2.
The 31-year-old rapper revealed in another interview that she prays to God every day in order to become a better person.
"I was praying every day, 'You know what, Lord? I want to be a mom one day, and I want to start becoming the woman who I want to parent my child,'" said Minaj to Elle Magazine in 2013. "I wanted all of the feelings of entitlement to leave me, because some people have this life for a year or five or 10 - and a lot of them lose it. I didn't want to become a person who wasn't enjoying the moment."
Charisma News Editor Lee Grady wrote an article about why she still prays for the "Anaconda" rapper.
"What intrigues me most about Minaj is her religious background. Her mother, Carol Maraj, is a born-again Christian who found God during a traumatic time when her husband was abusing her. In a recent interview in The Christian Post, Maraj said her encounter with Jesus healed her marriage and gave her a ministry to women who suffer in abusive situations," said Grady, according to her article.
"If God gets a hold of Nicki Minaj, her music could be used to restore women's dignity instead of tearing it down."
Minaj's mother Carol previously revealed in another interview that she has faith that one day Nicki will one day shed her carnal image in the entertainment industry and re-dedicate her life to God.
"The Bible says to train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old would not depart from it. I trust that one day [Nicki] will sing unto the Father, because a seed has already been planted. Nothing is too big to God," Carol Minaj said to The Christian Post.
In 2011, the young rapper wrote the following message on Twitter when she quoted John 3:16, a Bible verse that explains God's undying love for humanity and the redemption that mankind can only receive through faith in Jesus Christ and not by works.
"For God so loved the world, he gave his only begotten son; that whosoever believeth in him, shall not perish, but have everlasting life," tweeted Minaj.
