Nichole Nordeman's 'The Unmaking' EP Released Today; Singer Debuts Acoustic Music Video [Watch Here]
Christian singer/songwriter Nichole Nordeman released her new EP, The Unmaking, today with Capitol CMG, and the six-track project is her first music since 2005's Brave (Sparrow Records).
The Unmaking was written during a challenging time for Nordeman, as she said, "Sometimes the hardest thing about being broken is standing still long enough to admit it."
She continued, "It is far easier to stay busy, to create distraction, continue to spin and build and whistle loudly over the sound of the crumbling core. These songs are what happened when I made myself stand still in my own debris and dust. Eventually what I heard in the dark was the sound of hope and beauty singing back to me."
On the album Rhapsody stated, "For nearly a decade, something's been missing in Christian music. It was Nordeman's voice...now she's back with a six-song EP, and we're greedily gobbling up every note. The confessional title track is telling, referring to rebuilding after the walls come tumbling down, but the entire album is actually permeated with themes of renewal, rebirth and rising from the ashes. 'Name' is a great reminder of what we've been missing, encouraging pop that isn't pap. Don't miss the emotional 'Slow Down,' a track that will have any parent teary-eyed."
The first single, "Name," goes to radio on September 11, and Nordeman has performed her new songs along with many of her hits this past weekend in Philadelphia at the Women of Faith Farewell Tour to more than 9,000 people.
The EP can be found here on iTunes.
Back in 2005, Brave debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Christian & Gospel Chart. Nordeman has had four No. 1 songs and seven Top 5 radio singles at Christian radio, including hits such as "Holy," "Legacy" and "Brave." Since then, Nordeman wrote and contributed 17 songs to the 2011 album Music Inspired By the Story, which debuted at No. 11 on Billboard's Christian & Gospel Chart. In 2013, Nordeman contributed to My Hope: Songs Inspired By The Message And Mission Of Billy Graham.
Nordeman recently released an acoustic video for the song "The Unmaking."
