Nichole Nordeman has released the music video for her single, "Slow Down." The clip features a sequence of poignant footages of babies, toddlers and children along with their parents, who are also friends of the musician.

"I don't know of a more uttered or whispered phrase from a mother of any age, about her child of any age, than, 'It's going by too fast,'" Nordeman explained.

"Slow Down" is part of the six-track EP by Nichole Nordeman titled "The Unmaking."

"I feel like I spend my life trying to slow time. Trying to celebrate the growth and milestones of my children, and then secretly day dreaming about building a time machine in my garage, so I can return to rocking my babies at midnight," the singer said.

"If you've ever looked at your child running across a field, or striding across a graduation stage, or walking down the middle aisle of a church clutching a bouquet, you'll know why this song is special to me."

JesusFreakHideout described "Slow Down" as a "sweet journey from infanthood to the point when 'you were trying to free your fingers from my hand.'" While the song is poignant and sentimental but "never maudlin."

Nicole Nordeman told Crosswalk that she wrote "Slow Down" during her son's fifth graduation as a tribute to him and his friends in class. "It's not a depressing song, by any means, but it's an homage to the different ages and stages of children's lives and how we wish we could just slow it all down," she added.
