Nicholas Brendon News: 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' Star Shares His Troubles On Dr. Phil

Nicholas Brendon of Buffy the Vampire Slayer fame will appear on Dr. Phil on 26th August, according to a statement that was made on Tuesday on his social media page.

"Nick is doing well and he sends his love to you all," the post states. "If you happen to be in the LA area on Aug. 26, why not go to a Dr. Phil taping and show some support to Nick? Tickets are free."

Brendon, 44, will finally share about his troubles on the taping.

The past year has been very hard on him, with the actor who played Xander, Buffy's love interest on the hit late-90s fantasy series fighting depression, alcoholism and substance abuse.

Brendon has also faced a few run-ins with the law, having been arrested three times in these past 2 years.

The first arrest was for being publicly intoxicated, the second for grand theft and the third was for causing criminal mischief.

Two of these arrests were at comic book conventions.

As if that was not enough, Brendon faced a messy split up from his wife Moonda Tee in February after only 5 months of marriage.

Brendon has blamed his depression and substance abuse on sexual abuse that he suffered as a child, he shared with TMZ Live in March. This was following his second arrest.

Yet another incident that pointed to the former actor needing help occurred in July when Brendon was found bleeding in an alley. He checked into rehabilitation following this incident.

At that time, Brendon also sent out an appeal on Twitter to HLN's Dr. Drew Pinsky, of Dr. Drew on Call. He asked for Dr. Drew to call him as he "sure could use a pep talk."
