In line with EA Sports' "NHL 17," the top 50 overall player ratings have been revealed with Sidney Crosby, topping the overall list.

Overall, the rankings is spearheaded by Crosby and he is followed by Jamie Ben, Patrcik Kane, Drew Doughtry, Alex Ovechkin, Jonathan Teows, Shea Weber, Steven Stamkos, Carey Price, and Anze Kopitar, as per EA Sports' official webpage.

For the left wingers, the top three were Stars' Benn, Capitals' Ovechkin, and Devils' Taylor Hall. On the other hand, the top three right wingers were Blackhawks' Kane, Blues' Vladimir Taranseko, and Sharks' Joe Pavelski.

The top three centers were Penguins' Crosby, Blackhawks' Teows, and Lightning's Steven Stamkos while the top three defensement were Kings; Doughty, Canadiens' Weber, and Blackhawks' Duncan Keith. Meanwhile, Canadiens' Price topped the goaltenders' list, followed by Kings' Jonathan Quick, and Capitals' Braden Holtby.

According to the publication, the "NHL 17" player ratings were from scouting reports given by a professional "NHL" scout. The factors for the ratings are the player's offensive and defensive abilities. Along with these, the ratings also take into account attributes like physical features, senses, skating, shooting, and puck skills.

In terms of ratings, some players did not deserve theirs, according to NESN. As per the publication, a case in point is Weber, who was the second-highest rated defenseman should not be on the spot, since he was not a top 15 player at the position. For goalies, Ben Bishop and Corey Crawford's ratings should be higher than the 10th and the seventh, respectively.

"NHL 17" is EA Sports' forthcoming ice hockey simulation video game. EA Sports' "NHL 17" is set to be released for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on Sept. 13.
