'NHL 17' News, Trailer: Public Beta Scheduled On July 28; Title Features Defense-Offense Strategies

The latest details for "NHL 17" include strategies on players' defense and offense in the ice field.

According to EA Sports, via its official YouTube channel, "NHL 17" is set to provide gamers the defensive tools they need. This includes clearing a goalie away from the line of sight, as well as tying the stick to the opponent's to take away a pass. As per the publication, timing and positioning are key factors for the player's team to own the ice.

In terms on the the goalie's stance, it is revaled that motion capture has been used to capture it, which depends on three factors - position, shot angle, and scoring situation. Also, the studio gathered the 40 authentic stances to elicit the real persona of the league's best tenders.

Improved passing and smoother pick-up are revealed to allow cleaner zone exits. In addition, player's speed is considered a weapon, but they have to ensure they pay attention to their direction to avoid collision.

In the defensive zone, developed targeting and the ability to knock players out of neutral zone. On the other hand, acceleration and agility allow players in the offensive zone to get to the dangerous positions more efficiently.

According to Game Spot, a public beta is scheduled from July 28 to Aug. 4. As per the publication, it was announced at the 2016 NHL Awards and the signups have already closed. However, players who have already registered are set to have access to the game's Online, HUT, and EASHL modes.
