NFL 2015 News: Steelers Sign Vick; Cowboys Lose Top Cornerback
Michael Vick is packing his bags for Pittsburgh, as Shutdown Corner reports that the controversial quarterback and the Steelers came together Tuesday morning for a physical, and eventually reached an agreement on a one-year-deal. In a related move, Bruce Gradowski was placed on the injured reserve list after suffering an injury to his finger during a Saturday preseason game against the Green Bay Packers.
As noted b Shutdown Corner the Steelers were left with the struggling Landry Jones behind Ben Roethlisberger following the injury to Gradowski, which prompted the move to add another QB.
The 35-year-old Vick played with the New York Jets last season, completing 64-of-121 passes for a total of 603 yards to go along with three touchdowns and two interceptions in 10 games. Vick, who started three games during that span, also rushed for 153 yards on 26 carries (5.9 average) with no touchdowns, as noted by Shutdown Corner.
In Dallas, Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick injured his knee during practice Tuesday. It was later found that he had suffered a torn ACL and MCL. He is expected to be done for the season.
As reported by Pro Football Talk, the non-contact injury came following two interceptions Scandrick made during practice. He is widely considered as one of the top defensive players for Dallas.
As noted by Pro Football Talk, Scandrick has been with the team since being selected in the fifth round in the 2008 draft. He recently signed a contract extension this past spring after a season that saw him tie his career-high with two interceptions. He also forced two fumbles and recorded a sack this past season.
The team, which ranked 19th in yards allowed and 15th in points allowed last year, will now have to rely on Brandon Carr, Morris Claiborne and first-round pick Byron Jones.
