Before delving into a comparative study between the Google Nexus 7 and Apple iPad Air 2, it is essential to note that these two devices are positioned on opposite ends of the smart device spectrum. On that note, the iPad Air 2 is definitely costlier but a far superior tablet than the Nexus 7.
However, when compared to the iPad Air 2, the Nexus 7 is not only smaller and lighter, but can be upgraded to Google's latest OS version Android 5.0 Lollipop. The Apple iPad Air 2, on the other hand, is a 9.7-inch tablet measuring 6.1 mm thickness and weighs 437 grams. It boasts a 9.7-inch, LED-backlit IPS LCD display having a resolution of 1536x2048 pixels and 264-ppi density.
The iPad Air 2 is available in 16GB, 64GB and 128GB internal storage variants, supported by 2GB RAM. It has an 8-MP rear primary camera and a 1.2-MP front-facing camera. The iPad Air 2 has a tri-core, 1.5-GHz ARM CPU and it runs on the latest iOS 8.1. It also comes with Apple's unique fingerprint sensor technology.
The iPad Air 2 is priced between $399 and $579, while the Nexus 7 starts with a price tag of $229.99.
