Nexus 7 2016 Release Date, News & Update: Google Phone On Pace For October Release?
There are multiple rumors on Nexus 7 about its impending release this 2016, but recent info is claiming that Huawei is still on track to launch the Google phone before the year ends.
In fact, there are already reports about Google phasing out the Nexus brand in favor of the "Pixel" branding. And it has already been confirmed that the company is releasing two phones on Oct. 4.
According to ArsTechnica, it could be possible that Google will launch the Nexus 7 in 2016, but it might not be under that name. The search giant might rebrand its latest phone, made in partnership with Huawei," under Pixel.
This speculation was backed by TechRadar, which claimed that the news about the rebranding may impact the Nexus 7 2016, as well. The article in question believed that the Huawei-designed phone may be marketed under Pixel under Google's unification drive. The company already has the Pixel C tablet and the Chromebook.
But there's another possibility.
PC Advisor said that the news about the Oct. 4 event being the launchpad for the Pixel phones could bode well for the Nexus 7 2016 as it said that "it's more than likely that Google will also use this event to unveil" the phone.
As to the price, Google has stopped producing phones that are cheaper than its competitors after the 5X and 6P, which were even more expensive that the other smartphones, so it's hard to speculate at this point.
For now, however, all these reports about the Nexus 7 2016 remain to be rumors until there's official word from Google or Huawei.
