Nexus 6 Android Lollipop 5.1 Update: Google's New OS Version Now Available for T-Mobile
Last week, Google started rolling out the Android 5.1 update for its highly coveted Lollipop service. Nexus 6 devices are the first to receive it with it coming to Sprint and Verizon already. Now, the OTA (over the air) update will be available for those who have a Nexus 6 device with T-Mobile.
Labeled as build LMY47M, the 5.1 update for Nexus 6 devices are sure to bring even more satisfaction to users as it improves the service overall and fixes bug that were found in the 5.0 update.
Users can now access the 409MB update through the OTA. According to the Android Police the update came in different variants for each carrier. Sprint released the update as LMY47D and Verizon's build was LMY47E. Sources say that these slight changes in the last letter should not indicate that each carrier will have its own version of the 5.1 update.
The update includes some major and minor tweaks along with new features. For example, new animations for the updated stock Clock app have been found. While it's not functional, many users have enjoyed the subtle change.
A major change is the new Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Quick Settings. Now users can access and change their Bluetooth and Wi-Fi setting without ever having to access the full pages.
Screen pinning was kind of confusing for some users. The 5.1 update gives clear and precise instructions as to how to pin a screen. The volume controls for media such as YouTube and Spotify are now separate from the phone as well.
Hiding heads-up notifications is now easier as users can just swipe up on their Nexus 6 devices, something that users have asked for since the Lollipop update was released.
Other features include HD Voice support, better Device Protection, and the support for multiple SIM cards.
