Nexus 10 Android Update News: Tablet Receives Newest Lollipop 5.1 Upgrade

Since its release last year, Android's latest Lollipop service has slowly made its way onto many devices. Now the Nexus 10 tablet developed by Google and Samsung Electronics is getting the 5.1 version on Lollipop over-the-air.

According to Tech Times the tablet must have 50 percent battery life in order to receive the 104.4 MB update. The update will make some major improvement, tweaks and bug fixes that have plagued the service since its launch, especially reported memory and RAM leaks.

Android 5.1 Lollipop includes the well-received Device Protection plan that ensures maximum security for all devices. Those devices that carry the 5.1 Lollipop update can only access their phones and tablets when signing in to a Google account. Also, if the device is ever stolen, thieves will not be able to access information. Device Protection also works when a device is changed back to its factory settings.

Two other favorite features are HD voice and new Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings. HD voice will bring a crystal clear sound to all compatible devices. Those devices include the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9. In the past, the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings had to be accessed in their own pages. Now, the settings are shown in the Quick Settings menu as well as toggles on the lock screen.

According to The Droid Life, other features include animations on the updated stock Clock app, better explanations on screen pinning, separate media and phone volume controls, improved heads-up notifications, customizable colors in the dialer, support for multiple SIM cards, single swipe to hide on the lock screen to unlock when the Quick Settings panel is showing, and an updated default Android icon.

On that note, Nexus 10 owners can (as of this writing) download the Android 5.1 Lollipop update.
