Next-Gen Apple Watch Rumors: Tech Titan Already Working on the Next Apple iWatch? 'Spring Forward' Event Live Stream
Apple Inc. is hosting a special event dubbed the "Spring Forward" in San Francisco on Monday, March 9, to tell the world everything related to its first wearable device - the Apple Watch. However, even before the event kicks off, there are rumors that the Cupertino-based tech titan is already working on the next edition of the device, which is speculated to come in a platinum casing.
A recent report in Tech Radar says that the Apple Watches that will be sold from next month onward will be available with anodised aluminium, stainless steel and gold casings; subject to how much the consumer wants to spend. It quotes the Wall Street Journal claiming that platinum will be the next metal coming to the smartwatch sometime in the future. Currently, luxury watch manufacturers like Omega and Rolex favor this metal.
While neither the tech websites nor Apple confirms the rumors, Tech Radar says that if the company eventually decides to embark on the next edition of Apple Watch, consumers need to bear in mind likely future improvements if they are thinking of spending on one.
Currently, there are lots of speculations regarding the potential new straps for the Apple Watch. According to the report, it is more or less confirmed that Apple will be offering straps in rubber, leather and stainless steel. However, a number of tech experts and enthusiasts are of the view that Apple may also unveil a gold link bracelet strap at the "Spring Forward" event today.
If this happens, it will certainly push the price of the premium Apple Watch to almost $20,000. However, as of now, the prices of the different editions of Apple Watch are still not disclosed.
For those who are interested, the "Spring Forward" event starts at 5:00 pm GMT / 1:00 pm ET / 10:00 am PT. The event can be watched live on Apple's Event website by anyone with a fairly recent version of iOS or Mac OS X.
