Newsboys' Nominated for Top Christian Song and Artist at 2015 Billboard Awards; 'We Believe' Continues to Chart Strong

Newsboys

Christian music legends the Newsboys have been nominated for two 2015 Billboard Music Awards this week - Top Christian Music Artist and Top Christian Song.

For the Top Christian Artist category, they are up against Casting Crowns, Hillsong UNITED, Lecrae, and MercyMe.

For Top Christian Song the band took a nod for their anthem, "We Believe." It is currently the band's longest-running #1 single to date. It is also the theme song of Pure Flix's current box office hit "Do You Believe?" which stars Mira Sorvino, Sean Astin, Cybill Shepherd, and Lee Majors.

According to Billboard, the Music Awards finalists are based on album and digital song sales, radio airplay, streaming, touring and social media interactions, which are tracked year-round by Billboard and its data partners, including Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound.

The Newsboys consist of lead vocalist Michael Tait, Jody Davis (guitar), Jeff Frankenstein (keys) and Duncan Phillips (drums), and have sold more than eight million units, garnered six Gold® records, 33 #1 radio hits, four GRAMMY® nominations and multiple Dove Awards.

The band's latest recording and debut collection of hymns, Hallelujah For The Cross, released last fall and features the legendary group's take on nine classics and one new selection.

The show will be produced by Dick Clark Productions and hosted by Ludacris and Chrissy Teigen. The 2015 Billboard Music Awards will be broadcast live on ABC from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, May 17, at 8 pm ET.
