New York Yankee Trade Rumors: Aroldis Chapman Trade Report
Brian Cashman, the general manager of the New York Yankees, has told the media that the team can easily stay where they are when it comes to the trade deadline.
He added that he does not want to trade too much for too little.
The Yankees do not have an interest in making a trade for a season rental, which would describe most of the players available for trade currently.
Cashman does not want to let go of his prospects for a player that will only stay for a portion of the season.
According to a report made by the New York Post, the Yankees have been looking at a few closers in order to strengthen their team for the journey to the playoffs.
The Yankees currently hold first place, and they do not want that to change.
Although Buster Olney of ESPN reported that Craig Kimbrel is a potential player of interest, the Yankees seem to me repelled by his high salary.
One player who could check all the boxes for the team, is Aroldis Chapman. ESPN's David Schoenfield, has reported that the Yankees are a possible candidate for Chapman, as they are looking to add one more player to complete their set with Andrew Miller and Dellin Betances.
Chapman will not be a free agent, however, until the end of the 2016 season. A trade for the closer would mean that the Yankees can keep that trident of players for two seasons minimum, which would make the trade worth it in the long term.
Chapman would give the Yankees an extra edge for the playoffs as well, and will be able to go more than one inning if necessary.
