The New York Rangers will go one-on-one with the New York Islanders on January 13 at Madison Square Garden in New York, New York.

The Rangers (24-11-4) are attempting to lengthen their current winning streak to six games when they host their crosstown and Metropolitan rival Islanders on Tuesday night.

Previously, New York demolished the Los Angeles Kings by a final score of 3-1, where Rangers' Chris Kreider, Martin St. Louis and the squad's lone NHL All-Star Rick Nash each scored a goal for the Broadway Blueshirts on January 10.

"It was exciting and intense," said Rangers goalie H. Lundqvist to reporters after notching 30 saves in the win against the Sharks.

"We found a way to win this one and we battled really hard. We wanted to finish off strong here on this road trip."

Meanwhile, the Islanders (26-13-1) are attempting to extend their winning streak to three games when they clash with their longtime Metropolitan division opponent Rangers at the 'World's Most Famous Arena'.

Previously, New York crushed the Columbus Blue Jackets by a final score of 5-2, where Islanders' players Matt Martin, Nikolay Kulemin, Anders Lee, Brian Strait and Kyle Okposo each scored a goal in the aforementioned victory on Saturday night.

"As a coaching staff, not only do we want to see them do well, their teammates want to see them do well, too. We have a close-knit group," said Islanders coach Jack Capuano to reporters.

"We played within the framework and the structure that we wanted to play against a really good hockey team. I like the way we dictated the pace tonight."
