The Rangers (19-10-4) are attempting to lengthen their impressive winning streak to nine games when they battle the Stars on Monday night.

Previously, New York exorcised their longtime Metropolitan division rivals New Jersey Devils by a final score of 3-1, where Rangers' Derek Stephan scored a hat trick (three goals) for the Broadway Blueshirts on December 27.

"I think we believe in each other a lot right now, we believe in the system and the way we are playing. We've gained a lot of confidence because the way we are playing and because we are winning," said Rangers All-Star goalie Henrik Lundqvist to reporters after notching 19 saves in the victory.

"We have to continue here and push ourselves. When you're hot and you're on a roll, you want to try to cash in as much as possible."

Meanwhile, the Stars (15-14-5) are attempting to lengthen their winning streak to two games when they defend their home ice versus the Rangers at the American Airlines Center.

"It's a good test for us," said Dallas head coach Lindy Ruff to reporters.

"They haven't been giving up a lot. They've been playing good hockey."

Recently, the Stars defeated their Central division foes St. Louis Blues by a final score of 4-3, where Dallas' Travis Moen, Ryan Garbutt, Jason Demers and Trevor Daley each scored a goal in the victory on Saturday night.

"Anytime you get to play a team like St. Louis it's a measuring stick for us," said Daley to reporters.

"We see where we're at. We're trying to get back in this. It's a dogfight for us. We dug ourselves a hole; we're trying to get out of it, and beating teams like St. Louis is obviously a great feeling."
