New York Knicks NBA 2015 News: Teams Looks to Draft Kaminsky at No. 4?
As one of the biggest markets in the league, all eyes are expectedly focused on New York and what they Knicks will be doing on draft night. One report from Sean Deveney of SportningNews.com suggests that Phil Jackson and the Knicks could be looking at trading down to get assets and draft NCAA Player of the Year Frank Kaminsky.
Last week, the Knicks invited the versatile big man for dinner and a workout and reportedly came away impressed with what they saw. Sporting News points out that Kaminsky would not have wasted his time to fly to NewYork had he not been assured that the Knicks had real interest in him. The report also points out that with his polished post game and his shooting, Kaminsky stands as a natural fit for Jackson's preferred triangle offense.
"He's a coaches dream. He's a dessert," NBA scouting director Ryan Blake was quotes saying. "He's a guy that can score, rebound, block shots, make plays, an effort player, unselfish. He has that maturity and experience, and the guy keeps developing. He keeps getting better."
While the Knicks have not had any serious talks with any team about trading down, the Phoenix Suns have reportedly had discussions about possibly dealing guard Eric Bledsoe and the No. 13 pick for the Knicks' pick.
It is said that Kaminsky is high on the Suns' draft board, but are uncertain if he will still be available at 13. Despite signing Bledsoe to a five-year $70 million deal just before last season, the Suns have reportedly been shopping the talented guard around.
Sporting News reports that the Orlando Magic (No. 5) have their sights set on Mario Hezonja. The Denver Nuggets have the seventh pick, followed by the Detroit Pistons, Charlotte Hornets, Miami Heat, and the Indiana Pacers.
That's a long list of teams that the Suns need to pass on a talented and versatile big if Phoenix are going to get their man without the help of a trade.
