New TV Series 2015 News: Shonda Rhimes Developing New Comedy Show Titled ‘Splitsville’ for ABC
Shondaland, the production company of Shonda Rhimes, is currently developing a new comedy television series for the ABC network.
According to Huffington Post, the new show of Shondaland is titled 'Splitsville,' and it is being developed by 'Trophy Wife' creators Emily Halpem and Sarah Haskins. The story of the new show will revolve around divorced residents of a suburban area who get together with the objective of raising their children.
Latin Post says that Shondaland is entering a new territory with its first comedy series 'Splitsville.' In fact, Rhimes and Shondaland are well known for creating hit ABC dramas like 'Scandal,' 'How to Get Away With Murder,' and 'Grey's Anatomy.'
News about the development of the 'Splitsville' comes in the wake of reports that actor Cornelius Smith Jr. will be joining the 'Scandal' cast next season.
Before become a regular cast member on 'Scandal,' Smith Jr. was the winner of the 2014 ABC Discovers digital talent competition which offers actors an opportunity to win a $25,000 one-year contract with ABC.
After winning the 2014 ABC Discovers digital talent competition, Smith Jr. made a guest appearance on 'Scandal,' but was not an official cast member. According to MadameNoire, he also portrayed Marcus Walker in the last season of Michael Brown-inspired episode titled 'The Lawn Chair.' He again appeared on the show later for the episode titled 'I'm Just a Bill.'
However, as of now, it is not known how Smith Jr.'s character will be incorporated into the upcoming season of 'Scandal.' Meanwhile, E! News suggests that he may be a member of Olivia Pope's team of gladiators.
Smith Jr. has also played minor roles in other television series including 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D,' 'Whitney,' 'Forever,' 'All My Children,' and 'Major Crimes.'
According to E! News, 'Scandal' returns this fall on Thursday, Sept. 24 at 9:00 p.m EDT on ABC.
